About Tasneem

Tasneem is Director for Research and Business Development at Nielsen’s Consumer Insights division. She commits her time to develop business for custom research and provide strategic research consultancy to clients.

Tasneem has wide-ranging international experience working for The Nielsen Company (Canada, Dubai, Pakistan) and Ipsos (Canada). She has extensive experience in quantitative and qualitative research focusing on financial services and telecom industry amongst others in Canada, the Middle East and Africa. She is passionate about the evolving role of Market Research, Environmental Sustainability and advocates for Equality of Women.

What and who inspires you?

Abraham Lincoln. He has been my inspiration from my teenage years. His failures and successes in life has taught me to be courageous and persevere.

What is the best advice you received?

Actually there are two:

  • From my grade 8th English teacher: Always remember the 3 R’s – Respect for yourself, Respect for others, and Responsibility for your actions.
  • From my dad (eve of 1st day of 1st job): Work hard passionately and with integrity – success will follow.

How do you avoid being complacent in your role?

Keep the hunger to learn and do more alive. When you keep the interest of your company and the client constantly at the forefront, you realize there is more you can be and do, to help the clients and cater to business objectives. This keeps the fun at its peak – challenging you to be better each day.

How did your earlier career/life choices lead you to where you are now?

While finishing undergraduate studies, I knew I wanted to be in market research. I also knew I wanted only to work at Nielsen. I couldn’t have made a better career choice for myself – spanning three countries, and I still love each day I come to the Nielsen office to do what I love doing with a company who provides meaning beyond the day to day work.
