# Call for papers: Workshop on payments and securities settlement data and information

March 17, 2023

From July 27-28, 2023, Payments Canada in partnership with the [Bank of Canada](https://www.bankofcanada.ca/) and the [Deutsche Bundesbank](https://www.bundesbank.de/en), will host a workshop on payments and securities settlement data and information. This workshop aims to foster discussions between academics and policymakers on issues related to the generation, governance and use of payments and securities settlement information.

Selected research will be presented and discussed during the event. Topics include, but are not limited to:

- Architecture and governance of information produced by payments activity (e.g., digital privacy, decentralized ledger technology and integration with CBDC, stablecoins and tokenized assets).
- Open banking and the role of payments information in promoting competition and financial inclusion.
- Insights from payments and securities settlement data sets (in particular, from novel data sets on cross-border transactions, cryptocurrencies, fintech, and big data).
- Value added by payments data for monitoring and analysis (e.g., in forecasting macroeconomic variables, and for developing early-warning indicators of cyber-risk or financial stress).

**Paper submissions**
Extended abstracts or completed papers must be submitted by [email to the Bank of Canada](mailto:PaySettleDataInfo@bank-banque-canada.ca) by May 5, 2023. Authors of accepted papers will be notified by May 31, 2023.
