August 8, 2019

Payments Canada announced today the appointment of Cyrielle Chiron as Head, Research and Strategic Foresight, effective September 9, 2019.

Ms. Chiron joins Payments Canada from RFi Group, a financial intelligence and digital media provider, where she was responsible for all research initiatives, sales and operations across North and Latin America. Cyrielle brings a wealth of payments, retail and commercial financial services knowledge, as well as deep research experience.

“Payments Canada's research team plays a pivotal role informing strategic objectives and supporting the navigation of Canada's industry-wide payments Modernization initiative,” said Anne Butler, Chief Legal Officer and VP of Policy and Research at Payments Canada. “Cyrielle's unique expertise and international perspective will support elevating our team's effort as we move into the execution phase of our program.”

Payments Canada is leading a multi-year industry program to modernize the infrastructure, rules and standards that underpin payments in Canada. These improvements will strengthen our resilience, align with international standards and create a platform for innovation, enabling new and exciting ways for Canadians to pay for goods and services, transfer funds and exchange data about their payments. Supporting innovation at the customer level will be a faster, more flexible and secure payments infrastructure that puts Canada at the leading edge of payments.
