David Yates is president of global real-time payments for Mastercard, helping to shepherd the company as it brings more real-time payment options to more people in more places. He also serves as executive chairman of Vocalink, a Mastercard company, and sits on the Mastercard Management Committee.
David is passionate about payments, with 30 years of experience in building payments businesses around the world. Prior to his current role, he served as CEO of Vocalink for six years. His passion for impeccable performance, coupled with a spirit for innovation, has driven the Vocalink business to play a critical role in powering the economies of the world with real-time payments.
Prior to joining Vocalink, David was President of Western Union where he oversaw the development of strategy for e-Commerce, Mobile Payments, Business Payments and Pre-Paid Cards globally.
Previously, David spent six years at First Data Corporation (FDC), most recently as Executive Vice President, managing all of FDC's activities outside of the US, including merchant acquiring, merchant transaction processing, issuer processing and ATM network solutions business units. David has also served in executive roles with several other major international corporations, including IBM, General Electric and American Management Systems.
David has a master's degree in law from Oxford University and is fluent in German and French.
