Ms. Tedesco is Commissioner of the Financial Consumer Agency of Canada (FCAC). In her role, she ensures that federally regulated entities comply with consumer protection measures and advances the financial literacy of Canadians.
Previously, she was Deputy Commissioner at FCAC, a role she held since 2008.
A member of the Ontario Bar, Ms. Tedesco began her career in private practice with Burke-Roberston, Barristers and Solicitors, where she specialized in insurance law. She went on to hold senior leadership roles with major Canadian financial institutions such as Metropolitan Life and Clarica. In 2000, Ms. Tedesco joined Export Development Canada (EDC) where she took on increasingly senior positions, finishing her career there as Vice-President, Insurance and Loans Services.
In late 2016, Ms. Tedesco was appointed Chair of the International Financial Consumer Organisation (FinCoNet), an international association of supervisory authorities responsible for financial consumer protection. She is also a faculty member of Osgoode Hall’s Regulatory Compliance and Legal Risk Management for Financial Institutions Certificate.
She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree (Lettres françaises) and an LL.B. from the University of Ottawa.
