Payments Canada welcomes new Stakeholder Advisory Council chair

Payments Canada is pleased to announce that Daniela Aubry from Metrolinx has accepted the role of chair of the Stakeholder Advisory Council (SAC).

Daniela has been a member of SAC since April 2022. She brings with her a deep knowledge of the retail payment space, including expertise in product development, consumer experiences and industry partnerships. She is also a steering committee member of the Metrolinx Women’s Network, promoting inclusivity and diversity. In her role as Deputy Chief Payments Officer, Head of Client & Customer at Metrolinx, she provides the strategic direction and leadership for the alignment of PRESTO’s products and services to the broader Metrolinx vision. Metrolinx is shaping transit to work for everyone with more choices, faster travel and seamless connections and as part of this operates PRESTO a contactless fare collection system used on participating public transit systems in the Greater Toronto and Hamilton area and Ottawa. PRESTO's underpinning of this transit network through its fare payment system is relevant to the payment ecosystem on a national scale. Metrolinx’s involvement in SAC will continue to add a strong payment and stakeholder perspective to this important governance council.

Our outgoing chair, Brent Mizzen has been a steadying force on SAC since joining in 2012. Throughout his tenure, he has demonstrated unwavering dedication and commitment to strengthening innovation and inclusion within the Canadian payment ecosystem. He has twice served as chair and once as vice chair of the council. Most recently, Brent led a successful collaborative effort between MAC and SAC that has proven beneficial in the achievement of SAC objectives and in supporting the broader needs of the Canadian payment ecosystem. We thank Brent for the dedication and energy he has generously invested during his tenure on SAC, and wish him all the best as he embarks on his new opportunity.

The Stakeholder Advisory Council debates and delivers insight to Payments Canada’s leadership team and Board of Directors on key elements of the future of payments, including bylaws, policy statements and rules that affect third parties.

Our 2024 call for nominations for SAC will open Fall 2023. Should you have any questions about the selection process or how to get involved, please contact councils@payments.ca.
