Payments Canada appoints VP, RTR Operations to drive operational excellence

Payments Canada is pleased to announce a key executive appointment that significantly strengthens the leadership structure supporting the Real-Time Rail (RTR) system.

Janet Lalonde has been appointed Vice President, RTR Operations.

This new position is a crucial step in delivering the RTR and aligns directly with the organization's commitment to operational excellence and its future strategy. Janet will assume the permanent role in April 2026, reporting to Shawn Van Raay.

Janet brings over 25 years of experience in payment system operations and large program delivery. Her leadership will be focused on establishing a best-in-class operational environment to ensure secure, reliable and cost-effective 24/7/365 RTR operations.

Until April 2026, Janet will manage a smooth transition while continuing her current responsibilities as VP, Business Program Delivery. This appointment reinforces Payments Canada's dedication to operating resilient, secure and world-class payment systems for Canada.
