Payments Canada fees

Annual membership fee

All Payments Canada members are subject to an annual membership fee or common services dues. This fee is $49,544  per member for 2026.


System fees

In addition to an annual fee, member participants on Payments Canada systems are charged for transactions on those systems. Transaction fees are charged to the member sender and the member receiver of the transaction. Additional details are set out below.

Payments Canada fees are not charged directly to end customers, nor do they represent the complete cost of executing a payment by system participants. System participants or payment providers may incur additional fees for processing payments.

Retail batch payment system — Automated Clearing and Settlement System (ACSS)

Users of ACSS are charged one fee, encompassing charges for operational costs, debt repayment and reserves:

  • A volume-based transaction fee. This is a fee charged for transactions processed through the ACSS. In 2026, this fee is $2.2397 per 1,000 transactions.

High-value payment system — Lynx

Users of Lynx are charged two fees, encompassing charges for operational costs, debt repayment and reserves:

  • A volume-based transaction fee. This is a fee charged for transactions processed through Lynx. In 2026, this fee is $3.007 per individual transaction.
  • A value-based transaction fee. This is a fee charged for the total value of transactions processed through Lynx. In 2026, this fee is $245.4659 per billion dollars of value.

Payments Canada fees are determined and collected in accordance with the Canadian Payments Association By-Law No. 2- Finance.
