Tamara Vrooman is a transformational executive, recognized for an exemplary track record leading large, complex institutions in both the private and public sectors. Since July 2020, she has served as President and CEO at Vancouver International Airport (YVR), strengthening its position as Canada’s second busiest airport and the country’s Pacific Gateway to Asia and beyond, supported by a proven track record of innovation, sustainability and a leading financial standing.

Prior to joining YVR, Tamara spent 13 years as the President and CEO of Vancity, Canada’s largest community credit union, establishing the institution as a global reference point for values-based banking. She also served as Deputy Minister of Finance for the Province of British Columbia.

Tamara currently serves on the Board of the Greater Vancouver Board of Trade and is the twelfth Chancellor of Simon Fraser University. She previously served as Chair of the Canada Infrastructure Bank.

She is a recipient of the Queen's Golden Jubilee Medal for Outstanding Public Service, King Charles III Coronation Medal, the Order of British Columbia and in 2025, was named Canadian Business Leader of the Year by the Canadian Chamber of Commerce.

Tamara earned a Master of Arts in History and a Bachelor of Arts with Honours from the University of Victoria. She also received an Honorary Doctorate (Laws) from Simon Fraser University and an Honorary Doctorate (Technology) from the British Columbia Institute of Technology.
