Derek Rego brings more than two decades of experience driving technology innovation across the global banking and fintech sectors. As Chief Information Officer, Derek leads Payments Canada’s technology strategy, overseeing enterprise architecture, platform modernization and digital transformation initiatives that enable scalable growth and operational excellence.

Before joining Payments Canada, Derek spent over 20 years at Citi, where he held senior leadership roles building and deploying mission-critical global payment systems, reengineering legacy platforms and leading large technology teams through complex modernization efforts. His deep expertise in payment system evolution, enterprise IT architecture, and digital transformation will be instrumental in advancing Payments Canada’s technology maturity and strengthening its position as a leader in financial innovation.
