Payments Canada announces executive leadership promotions

Payments Canada announced two strategic promotions, adding capacity and influence to its executive leadership team.

Andrew McFarlane, Executive Director of Modernization, joins Payments Canada from Accenture, the firm working with Payments Canada to provide in-depth industry expertise in support of the Modernization initiative. Andrew has held this position for the last year in a consultative role. With this move, Andrew’s role will expand to include executive oversight of Payments Canada’s corporate strategy. Cyrielle Chiron, Chief Strategy Officer (CSO), will report to Andrew.

We are also pleased to announce changes to Anne Butler’s portfolio. The Industry Relations and Government Relations functions will now report into Anne, in addition to the Regulatory Affairs, Legal, Policy and Rules teams. She will also be responsible for Payments Canada’s Member Advisory Council and Stakeholder Advisory Council. These changes will provide Payments Canada with a more comprehensive view of Canada's payments ecosystem, and will more effectively inform our strategic objectives for the future of payments.
